I have loved photography for as long as I can remember, but my “obsession” with photography started after my 3rd child was born, with how fast they grow I simply needed to have a picture of every feature, every detail, before it changed! It was then that it actually hit me (hard I might say) how quickly babies grow and change and how badly I wanted to do whatever I could to preserve every detail.
I have been taking photographs professionally for 3 years and before that I spent approx 4 years building up my portfolio. I am mostly self-taught when it comes to digital photography. Everything I know I have learned through mentorships, books, seminars, forums and good old fashioned practice (and lots of it). To this day, I spend a great deal of time learning and practicing. I am a little of a perfectionist and I’m always seeking to improve. I love my job, although it doesn’t feel like a job a lot of the time. I love my family, I have a wonderful supportive husband (who has helped me with my business more than I can even count (from building props, to constructing my new studio, to even being my Santa 🙂 ) I also have 4 children, my oldest is Zane (he will be 16 next month), Audrey (13), Logan (7) and my baby Nataleigh (who is 4 and not so much a baby anymore).
My passion and heart in photography lies with photographing newborns, I have very few photos of my children when they were tiny and new. That newborn stage slips away so quickly, it’s often gone before you know it — over in a matter of days. My goal with newborns is to capture them in a way that they will never be again…. BRAND NEW.
